Kyoto Imperial Palace attracts visitors

Visitors tour the grounds of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, or Kyoto Gosho in Japanese, the former official residence of emperors, on April 7. The palace, one of the most popular sightseeing spots in the ancient capital Kyoto, is open to the public every spring and fall. It will be open to the public April 7-11.

Kenshun-mon Gate at Kyoto Imperial Palace

The gate is a magnificent example of the mukai-karahafu style. The wall has five portals called anamon (literally, hole gates). The ground, which at present is covered with gravel, is scattered with weeds and small stones. Two men pull a cart with straw bundles.
